With sharp songwriting and a passionate singing voice, Morray is one of the biggest breakout stars of 2021. Coming through with another video from his debut project Street Sermons, Morray shares “Nothing Now.” Emoting over twanging guitar and thumping low-end, Morray bares his soul to an unfaithful partner, making it clear that he’s better for leaving her and she’s much worse: “You not mine, so don’t waste your time/Act like you don’t know me/That nice guy that you used to like/I no longer know ’em/Held him down and ripped out his heart/I feel bad for homey.” In the video, directed by Christian Breslauer, Morray packs his things and leaves his woman, before finding the last payphone in North Carolina to call her and speak his mind. “Nothing Now” follows the video for “Can’t Use Me,” which dropped in April.

Welcoming listeners inside his head for a 13-track effort,  Street Sermons taps into the spiritual uplift and church-trained singing that makes Morray’s brand of hip-hop so unique, taking unflinching looks at the Fayetteville native’s youthful struggles and indiscretions and examining his motivations to succeed. The project contains universal truths about the tragedies and triumphs of growing up in the hood, filtered through Morray’s experience as a neighborhood kid made good. Street Sermons debuted at #41 on the Billboard 200 and helped propel Morray to #1 on Billboard’s Emerging Artists chart.

The project is home to “Quicksand,” which is currently charting at #66 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has over 175 million total streams. It is holding steady at #5 on YouTube’s US Music Video  and at #6 on urban radio. Thanks to “Quicksand” and its follow-up releases, Morray earned powerful co-signs from all over the rap game, including from fellow Fayetteville native J. Cole, who tapped Morray to sing the hook on “m y . l i f e,” a song from his new album The Off-Season that also features 21 Savage and was the top-selling song in the U.S. in overall consumption during its debut week, and made a #2 debut on the Hot 100. Earlier this month, Morray performed “Quicksand” and “Can’t Use Me” on Jimmy Kimmel Live, marking his debut television performance.
