Rising melodic rapper EDOT Lawrence is back with a brand new emotive, yet heavy hitting track called ‘YSL’. The track see’s EDOT Lawrence team up with producer SALTI who is a Def Jam Norway and Universal signed artist to create a real dark trap hit. The track which is built around the bass for that slow syrupy feel introduces a progressive beat and perfectly soulful vocals as the track reaches new heights.
The song is about moving on from something good for something that eventually will be better. But before summer you gotta go through winter. EDOT Lawrence explains. I was with someone once, that I thought would stay around, but she didn’t believe in me back then. She didn’t see the possibilities I saw, so we drifted apart. The song is about me realizing I was better off alone, it’s sort of an empowering song representing the light at the end of the tunnel.
When mentioning the production process of the track EDOT Lawrence continues to explain “I found a random beat and immediately caught a vibe. I made a demo and then brought this to my producer SALTI. He crafted a new and improved production. We then laid everything down and perfected it.”
EDOT Lawrence is a 22-year-old rapper/singer from Bergen, Norway who debuted his melodic rap through the label Get FAT. in early 2021. As a young fan of lyricists such as Lil Wayne, Eminem and Kanye West, the wordsmith craft became a big factor in his early years of music making.
‘YSL’ is the follow up to EDOT Lawrence’s first singles “SNOWGIRLS” and “U BELIEVE” which received heavy praise both domestically and internationally. The tracks projected him to over 80,000 streams on Spotify alone in such a short timeframe. EDOT Lawrence was first introduced to the industry in 2020, as he along with the other Get FAT. artists dropped the collab project “Goofy Brothers”. That’s where EDOT first showed his lyrical and melodic peculiarity, as a growing curiosity started to form around the 22-year-old.
