West Coast underground Hip-Hop juggernaut Blu, Bronx rapper Mickey Factz, and Grammy-nominated producer Nottz (of 9th Wonder‘s Soul Council) released their joint EP The Narrative via SCHMTCS/Soulspazm. Now, the trio relinquishes the Mr. Good Evening-directed music video for “Stay Down“, the project’s lead single. With guest vocals from Iman Omari on the hook, Blu and Mickey share their origin stories over Nottz production. The video was shot during the duo’s visit to Miami, Florida for their Drink Champs interview (alongside Asher Roth) with NORE and DJ EFN.
The Narrative‘s six-tracks find Blu and Mickey trading bars about spirituality, legacy, freedom, police brutality, and the devastation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic over Nottz’s signature, hard-hitting production. Twelve years removed from when the two rappers graced XXL’s coveted Freshman Class cover of 2009, the project is a testament to the lofty reputations Blu and Mickey have earned as elite emcees and legends in their own right. Guest features include Elhae, Fashawn, Kota The Friend, Tarriona “Tank” Ball, Sy Ari Da Kid, Asher Roth, Oswin Benjamin, and Iman Omari.
