Prado Shares the Eye-Popping Video For “Gucci Store”

Combining a blend of pop, rap, electronic, and more into a sound that is uniquely her own, Prado is on a mission to turn heads. Providing a jolt of energy with her latest bit of bubblegum trap, Prado shares Gucci Store,” her new song, which she wrote with her sister Zuleyyma Prado and co-produced with Franco Maravilla & Xander Miller. Ever since she started uploading songs to SoundCloud under the moniker AlienKanye, Prado has carved her own path through the music industry, never trying to be anything other than her own unapologetic self. Built around an insistent and infectious synth riff, “Gucci Store” is packed with melodic flows and lyrics purpose-built for Instagram captions: “I’m not gonna play with n****s anymore/Just gonna go buy myself the Gucci store.”

“‘Gucci Store’ is about finally deciding who you want to be and placing faith in your own abilities,” says Prado. “In the face of adversary, you decide to finally not give a sh*t and just do it for yourself.”

Directed by Vika and Sasha, a young female duo in Toronto’s art scene, the video is as engaging and brazen as the song itself. Shot in a 1.661 aspect ratio, the video takes place in front of an eye-catching yellow background, as Prado shows off her immaculate nails and dance moves. “Gucci Store” is Prado’s first new single of 2021, and it follows the December release of Men In Black,” praised by Refinery29.

Inspired by influences as diverse as Björk, Lady Gaga, and Gucci Mane, Prado is a self-taught songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. The Vancouver native’s early music garnered praise from Red Bull and SOCAN, and caught the attention of Skrillex’s OWSLA label. Using the pen name AlienKanye, Prado released a steady stream of energetic singles and EPs on SoundCloud, and wrote songs for artists across the genre spectrum. In 2020, Prado turned heads with her singles “STEPHEN,” an atmospheric, hook-filled banger that stresses the importance of self-expression, and “DRIP,” a bad b*tch anthem, filled with mantra-like pronouncements that double as advice for living a confident and care-free life. Complex praised “DRIP”, naming it one of the 10 Best Canadian Songs of October 2020, and more recently, named Prado as an Artist To Watch for 2021.

Signed to tmwrk records, Prado is ready to show the world the full breadth of her talents and re-shape the world of pop music in her own image. Stay tuned for Prado’s official debut EP, coming this June.
