Poxy Records co-founder Willhouse is back once again, this time with a lofi beat tape. ‘Beats To Lay Awake To’ documents the highs and lows of a night lying awake as the clock ticks by. Willhouse says, “I’m someone who’s a bit of a night owl, like I assume most bedroom producers are. Some nights fly by and I wanted to try to evoke that range of emotion that can happen in a restless night in one beat tape”
Willhouse, is an up and comer in Irish Hip Hop. The Carlow based beat maker has been making music since 2011 but has only recently taken to moving from a hobby to something more serious.
Over a multitude of beat tapes and with different production credits under his belt, Willhouse’s sample heavy boom bap inspired beats are getting picked up by many up and coming artists in the Irish scene. With a blend of Lo-Fi inspired instrumentals and 90s golden era Boom Bap beats, Willhouse has been had his music featured on sites such as Nialler9, Hot Press and Slight Motif.
His work with artists such as FYNCH, Pop Wallace and Donkobz has showcased a versatility and ear for production that shows a lot of promise for the future.
His latest release ‘So Sorry’ featuring Burner Records co-founders FYNCH and Sick Nanley garnered a great critical reception and has been played on 2fm, 98fm, KCLR. The track was also feautured as one of Nialler9’s songs of the month.
