Storming out of Charlotte with a fiery intensity and a sing-song flow, Jaah SLT is mastering a bass-heavy style of his own. Coming through with fresh heat for a scorching NC summer, Jaah shares “Toxic,” a brand new banger. Produced by Glockley, who mixes detuned synths and screeching strings into an entrancingly haunting blend, “Toxic” is a high-octane smack talker, the 20-year-old rapper switching on a dime from calm boasts to full-throated belts in between distorted kicks: “I ain’t rich, but I got enough bread to steal your b*tch,” snarls Jaah.
In the video, directed by Jaah’s frequent collaborator LKS Visuals, Jaah whips around his hometown with an associate, rocking bright yellow shorts and shaking his dreads to the beat of the music. “Toxic” is Jaah’s second single of the year, following January’s free associative “2021 Banger,“and will appear on a project set to drop in Summer 2021 via Alamo Records.
The new single quickly follows in the footsteps of the “In My Bag (Remix),” which features a brand new verse from Dallas diva Erica Banks. The subject of a TikTok dance trend set to a slowed version of the song that inspired over 157k video creations, “In My Bag” gained particular traction in Texas, the home of chopped-and-screwed music. Before releasing the Erica Banks-featuring remix, Jaah shared a Houston-style remix of the song produced by club god BeatKing. With over 1.2 million streams on Spotify, “In My Bag” was the second TikTok hit for the North Carolina native, following 2019’s “Tuff“ which generated over 250k video creations on the platform, powering the song to over 26 million streams.
“Toxic,” “In My Bag (Remix),” and “2021 Banger” are warning shots, informing all comers that Jaah SLT will be the next North Carolina rapper to make it big. Stay tuned for much more music from the 20-year-old artist in the near future.
